Time marches on...

Well, a month has gone by and I feel all attempts at my scheduling and organzing seem to have been thwarted.  We were thrown off track with the cousins visiting the end of March and beginning of April.  Then to top it off, both kids (and mom & dad to a lesser extent) came down with "knock-down" colds, ending up with strep.  Perhaps it is just me, but teaching a lesson + sick child = waste of time?  I'm not sure Leah retained anything I attempted to do the first day or 2 she starting feeling sick.  Then when Nolan came down with it-forget it.  I couldn't split my attention.  So-we finished of the first 2 weeks of April doing nothing.  I'll chalk it up to two weeks of Spring break!  :)   We're homeschooling, and year-round at that-so our school year technically won't end until August, so maybe we should have 2 week breaks :)

We'll be finishing off April with several field trips.  The first one was today at Sutter's Fort.  Several of the homeschool families in my homeschool group were participating in the living history day put on by the Sacramento Area Home Schoolers.  Leah had fun making a corn husk doll, helping weave a rug, grinding corn, and make some rope.  The event was very fun and we look forward to maybe one day participating in the event as a "pioneer".  As we moved from station to station I tried to listen to all the history being introduced to the kids and had vague memories of learning some of this information...over 30 years ago!

We have an additional field trip on Thursday to a local children's museum, and then the Sacramento Zoo next week.  More pictures to follow from those field trips on the next blog update, hopefully sooner rather than later :)
