"Normal" things I've been able to do because of Eli & his family:

Graduate High School
Work Full-Time
Get Married and become a wife
Graduate College
Intern at the Coroner's Office
Travel-all over the US, to Canada, to Mexico, to Paris
Snorkel
Parasail
Go on a cruise
Get Pregnant and have 2 babies
Watch a baby being born
Be a mom and a teacher
and all the everyday experiences in between.  I wouldn't miss them for the world and I am forever grateful to my donor and his family.

So much in 23 years that might have never been.  I only wish my donor's family knew of the incredible gift of their son's heart and what it has meant to me, my family and friends.

The following is a portion of a poem written by a dear friend of mine for one of my "heart anniversaries" and it sums up the bittersweet events that I am more prominently reminded of during these few days in June.

"One family's loss on that tragic day
Another family waiting for word
One soul to another
Like sister and brother
Forever bound by what had occurred"
