Bring on the New Year!
We just want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!
It's been a whirlwind last few months here and time keeps on getting away from me to update the blog.
The most recent exciting thing in our house is that Leah turned 9! Yes, my little preemie baby is now 9 and well on her way to being much taller than me. (I think she reaches my nose now-which isn't saying much since I'm only 5'2") You can see a recent photo of her taken on her birthday. She and Mema were headed to a tea party where they boarded the R.M.S Titanic for a lovely English style tea. (Don't worry-all guests invited to this tea were survivors!) I had to miss the tea due to a medical test (see below for medical updates)
We are eagerly anticipating Christmas around here. Our house is decorated for the season and we have begun watching our annual repertoire of Christmas shows while stringing popcorn for our Christmas tree.
For Thanksgiving, the four of us travelled by car (yes we are crazy) to Montana for the week. Along the way to and from, we were able to stop in Boise and visit some of Scott's family. Other cousins and his Aunt & Uncle from MN were there for the Thanksgiving holiday so we were able to have a mini family reunion. We also had the opportunity to visit with friends for dinner one evening in Boise as well.
Once in Montana, we spent some time with friends during the week and had some quality family time. Scott was also able to steal away for some "guy" time fishing and "hunting" with a college buddy of his. We drove up to Glacier park one day and the kids got a little bit of a snow fix sledding a couple of times, although we were a bit disappointed (ok-not so much me, but the rest of the family) that we did not have snow at our resort.
Way back in October I was able to travel to Chicago to visit my sister & her family. And I was also lucky enough (thanks to my awesome BIL) to go see my all-time favorite singer-Josh Groban- in concert at the United Center! We had amazing seats with an incredible view and I feels so blessed to get see and hear this man live! I felt like an adult Make-A-Wish recipient! This trip was a nice, relaxing break for me and it was so refreshing to spend time with my sister after a challenging previous 4 weeks.

Medical updates since Sept. 25th (last blog post)
Well, it looks like we are getting to know Sutter Roseville pretty well :( The Sunday evening before Halloween, I began to experience some disconcerting symptoms. After a few hours, and the symptoms not subsiding, but getting worse, Scott and I travelled to Sutter Roseville ER. A couple hours there and the hospitalist said my case was "complicated" and he admitted me to the hospital. Of course this all happened with both sets of grandparents out of town, but thankfully Uncle Russ was around to fill in and he stayed with the kids Sunday night and Monday. I was release Monday afternoon. The MRI showed no damage from a new stroke, but they didn't rule out that my symptoms weren't associated with a TIA aka "mini" stroke. I had more follow-up appointments with my doctors and an additional test-a TEE or transesophageal echo that was schedule on Leah's birthday (hence missing out on the tea party). The test revealed there is nothing indicated inside the hidden parts of my heart that could have caused or would cause me to have a stroke. Great news-but still no answers.
So back to square one I guess. If and when we have more updates, I'll keep you posted. In the meantime we wish you all a glorious Christmas season filled with peace and a Happy New Year in 2014!
