Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas & that the New Year brings much happiness.  Despite our setbacks for this year, we are ending it with much joy in our hearts.  Scott and I are amazed and humbled at the generosity of our friends, family and strangers alike who came together to make this a Christmas to remember.  From the anonymous cards we received in the mail, to the gifts left for our family, to the wonderful visits we had with family for near & far, we are truly blessed.  There is no way to thank those who made our Christmas a bit brighter this season, and our only hope is to pay it forward someday.

I too have a bit of good news to send your way and end 2015 in a positive light.  Due to my incredible sister and her determination, I now have an appointment at Stanford for a consult at the end of January.  Our hope is that they will list me while undergoing the treatment for the liver.

In addition, I heard from my liaison with the liver doctor 2 days before Christmas that the insurance company has approved the medications for my liver.  To top it off, I received a phone call just this morning from the specialty pharmacy that is supplying the 2 new meds.  They ran the meds through insurance, and though it is a significant savings from paying full price, out of pocket, it would still end up costing us several thousand dollars a month.  I need six months of treatment.

But the pharmacy “angel” did her magic and there’s a strong possibility we’ll have zero co-pays for both meds!!!   Or at the very least an even more significant discount to what our co-pay through the insurance would be.

That’s it for now…short & sweet!  Have a Happy New Year everyone and may 2016 bring Peace and Love for all.
