Happy Valentine’s Day!
Happy National Donor Day!
I wanted to make sure each of you
received at least 1 Valentine this year-so I chose to share my blog today-on my
46th birthday.
Yay! Only 4 more years to 50….no that was really a
“Yay!” …not a sarcastic “Yay”. Unlike
most women, I look forward to each year I get to be here on earth and spending
time with those I care about. And if that
means becoming a year older, so be it.
I really wish more people could
know the blessing of life. I mean…L-I-F-E. Having it.
Living it. Sharing it. Enjoying it. Even struggling with it. I truly
cringe at the “age” jokes about the desire to deny how old we are because all I
can think about it is….”so & so” wishes their wife, son, daughter etc. could
have made it to (insert any age here).
I think of Eli & the young 16
year old girl whose heart now gives me life.
I’m sure their parents wish they could be 18, 21, 25, 40, 50 etc. I will
continue doing my part to honor those two donor families. Although Eli’s heart is gone…it was through
him that I was able to make it as far in my life as as I did, so he will continue to be honored
with each passing birthday. My wish for
this year is to have my current heart donor family reach out to me after receiving
the letters I’ve sent to them.

Ok. Enough about me. Not too much new with the family, just normal
everyday life going on here. Our latest
news is the addition of Leah’s two bunnies:
Zurie & Zoey. She adopted them from FUR (Friends of Unwanted
Rabbits) in January & she couldn’t be happier. They are very sweet 7 year old bunnies that have
been bonded since they were 1 years old.
Scott has been travelling a lot the
last couple of months. In late December
he and his dad and one of his brothers took a trip to Minnesota to attend his
Aunt Karen’s Celebration of Life service and spend time with his Uncle &
cousins. Three weeks after his return,
he and Leah drove up to Bozeman, Montana to check out MSU and tour the campus. It was a great
father/daughter trip and now Leah has seen Montana in the spring, summer &
winter and still has her heart set on moving up there and going to school at MSU.
In addition to these trips, Scott is making
weekly trips to Death Valley for work…putting lots of miles on our
vehicles.
As for Nolan and I, we stayed
home during the father/daughter Montana trip.
But don’t worry, Nolan still had fun with a surprise movie night,
playdate with friends and time off from lessons. He even discovered a new Lego game on the computer
that allows him to build creations virtually.
