Two weeks down...
and half way through week #3! The second week was a bit more challenging with Dad home and Nolan wanting to run back and forth between the classroom and Daddy's office. A bit distracting while trying to do lessons with Leah, so I'll be trying to come up with activities to keep Nolan occupied enough to not want to visit Daddy in the coming weeks. Also distracting for me was tasks/questions Scott needed help on for work-so we're going to have to come up with a schedule for the two of us as well.
Leah did a fantastic job memorizing her Sparks (Awana's) verse for the week. She kept spouting it off to whomever would listen yesterday at the park and before and after Awana club. Last week and this week we've been focusing on the sounds the letters make and playing counting games.
We also took a field trip to the Discovery Museum where the kids dressed as pirates. Though we went to learn and see the bones of animals, Leah and Nolan's favorite activity was playing at the child-sized restaurant serving customers. Ok..Nolan actually just sat in the car outside the drive-thru window and turned the steering wheel and lights on. But Leah did pass out menus to any person who came in with her little apron on and served the toy food and drinks. They also both enjoyed the robot Cosmo who spoke to them and answered their questions. (See pictures from this field trip)
I had a homeschool group meeting Monday night and Tuesday we had a homeschool park day with some of our new friends at a new park. I am organizing a "Park Hop" where the kids and I will be playing at different parks each week (that we've not been to before) and inviting the homeschool group. I have this week to finish out & next week for school, and then the kids will have a break while Mom and Dad travel for a week.
Hopefully I will have a moment to recap the rest of this week & next week before we leave.
